Hello, I’m Pink Sommerfeld.

In my first life, I am an artist and jewelry artisan named Christine, and I live and work in my beautiful home state of Iowa. My studios are located near the banks of the great Mississippi River. Sometimes I teach, sometimes I mentor, but most of the time I work alone or collaborate on projects with fellow artists I am close with.

“Alphabrat Gets Dressed” is an experiment of sorts. I’ve been a virtual resident of Second Life since 2008 and have become more interested in the fashion industry there — specifically, how I can collage together outfits from various designers and use the imagery as a catalyst for my offline artwork.

My fashion ensembles in this blog (and my “real life” paintings) tend to be colorful, simple, playful and concise. I prefer to let the visual composition speak for itself rather than explain to the viewer why it works or convince them why they should appreciate it.

Some people just will… and it is that unspoken connection of visual aesthetics that makes it all worthwhile to me.
