I’m posting my entry for the Color Challenge a little bit late this week because I was out of town for the holiday, having a wild and crazy time. However, I’m home now and here is my submission for Ruby. I think this is one of my favorite formal gowns ever. The sweep of the gown is very decorative and complex and with motion, it will open slightly to reveal a gorgeous swath of the deep ruby colored under-layer. It’s breathtaking!

Finding the right shoes for the dress was a bit difficult, but in the end, I selected the Ilaida Mojri in red from Zaara and they are perfect. So comfortable you can dance all night and not think of your tootsies at all. *wink*

Next week’s color is Denim Blue, which should prove to be fairly easy. But you never know… haha. Be sure to stop by again and see what I come up with!

As I was browsing around for an interesting quote to go along with this post (I had chosen the keyword “exotic”, because of the pattern in the dress) I stumbled across this one. It was so unusual, playful and true that I just had to share it.

Pink is my fav-o-riiiiite color!

Oddly enough, it hasn’t always been that way though. When I was a little girl, I hated the color. My sisters wore it quite a bit and I apparently thought if you wore it you became giggly, silly and boy crazy… haha. But when I started seriously creating art in my teen years, I fell in love with the color pink — how it is sensuous, delicate, versatile and provocative — and how even small bursts and smudges of pink are nearly everywhere if you keep your eye open for it. Though I still don’t wear it a lot in my RL, I surround myself with all shades of rose, pink, coral as much as possible and am even known as Ms. Pink in my offline life.

I do go on about the obsession subject, don’t I? *smile*

So this is my ensemble for Olive… I really like how it turned out! I love all of the subtle patterns in this dress. It reminds me of a cross between a Paul Klee and a Wassily Kandinsky painting. I also enjoy the way the earrings mimic the silhouette of the dress and the sleeves. So pretty!
